Tomorrow is February 29th, not March 1st, because this year is a leap year. Ever wonder why they do that every four years? I was wondering about that myself. Mike’s top five reasons why we have leap years.
#5. In order to keep the calendar year synchronized with the seasonal year. Because seasons and astronomical events do not repeat in a whole number of days, a calendar that had the same number of days in each year would, over time, drift through the seasons. (Wikipedia)
#4. Needed a title for that movie with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. (IMDB)
#3. To give us a few extra hours to track down that lying groundhog and $%@& his &$@$%.
#2. Every four years it’s just nice to keep the hard to spell month around for one more day, before we get to the easy to spell months.
#1. Extra day of shoveling!
Note: I’m guessing number 2 is probably the real reason.
