Tips for the new Cougar Coach

The Cougars kick of a new season tonight with a new coach behind the bench, so I thought I would share some of my expertise (expertise gather after years behind the bench as the stick-boy for the Thompson Hawks on the MJHL. These are some coaching strategies that have worked for me in the past and they might work for Dean Clark. Mike’s top five tips for the new coach of the Prince George Cougars.
#5. Try not to watch any Leafs hockey on game days.
#4. You just can’t beat a big box of Timbits behind the bench.
#3. To help loosen up the players – do a pre-game interpretive dance to The Blackeyed Peas ‘I Got A Feeling’ before every home game.
#2. Don’t sit too close to the play-by-play guy on the bus. On-ray, Clair-stay, Ores-snay. Enough said.
#1. Score on the road – take the bus home, don’t score – walk home.

Little things that could help The Cougars

The Prince George Cougars lost their 8th in a row over the weekend. Maybe it’s time to try something a little less conventional when it comes to motivating team play. Sometimes changing some little things can have a big impact. The top five little things that could help turn the team around.
#5. Players, now eligible to win fun-gun t-shirts at the rink.
#4. All on-ice officials must now reveal where they are ticklish before the game.

Spruce Kings vs Media

Top Five things that went on at the Spruce Kings vs Media ball hockey game yesterday.
#5. The Pepsi Ice Girls were cheering for both teams.
#4. The media bench was located too close to the mini donut stand.
#3. Spruce King players were complaining bitterly about having to use mini sticks. It did give them a whole new prospective on the game. They could finally see eye to eye with the on ice official.
#2. Stu Malgunas was seen slipping a twenty to Joan Jarman just before the fateful 4th goal.
#1. Just like any good road hockey game – more balls hit mini vans than nets!!

Things to say to the ref

Cougars’ GM, Dallas Thompson was fined $500, apparently for comments he made to an official, regarding a call during Friday’s Cougar game. I don’t know if anyone knows exactly what was said.. but we can speculate.. The Top Five Things That Might Have been Said.
